A public meeting organised by the Upa Lawm (Elders' Forum) under the initiative of MLA Kangpokpi assembly constituency Thangminlen Kipgen with State officials and NGOs of Kangpokpi on July 14 took strong exception to the prolonged absence of DIO (Family Welfare) and DFO from their offices.
A statement issued by Upa Lawm, Kangpokpi conveyed that the meeting was participated by all Government posted at Kangpokpi except for DIO, AD/FCS, AD/PHE and Veterinary.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Thangminlen Kipgen stressed on the essentiality of regular attendance and dedication to their duties on the part of Government officials for the benefit of the local populace and overall progress of the society, informed the statement.
Moreover, Thangminlen also appealed to all UG groups not to harass State officials so as to ensure their stay at their place of postings and performance of their duties freely and peacefully in the larger interest of the general public.
Addressing the meeting, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kangpokpi pin pointed several lacunae in different Departments within his area of responsibility.
He stressed on good governance, transparency and accountability, it mentioned.
The meeting also raised serious concern over the failure of public distribution system such as unavailability of the allotted quantity of rice, K oil etc.
It also urged the authorities concerned to find out the flaws in PDS and to make sure that PDS items reached their exact destinations in full allotted quantities.
