Imphal, April 13:
A youth claimed by Assam rifles as UG cadre but strongly rejected by family has been gunned down this morning at Kakching Khunou area.
According to PIB (DW) personnel of 33 Assam Rifle have killed a suspected UG cadre at around 3.30 am and reported recovery of one M-20 pistol and six live rounds of AK-47 rifle from the deceased whose identity is yet to be established.
the man opened fire while trying to breach security cordon compelling the Ar men to reply with restraint retaliatory firing, added the PIB in a statement issued to press.
At the end of a brief gunfight subsequent search led to the finding of a bullet-riddled body.
However, family members told The Sangai Express that the ARs encounter theory is totally false and manufactured.
identifying the victim as Ningthoujam Ingocha (28) of Nongmaikhong Nongpok Mayai Leikai, they contended that Ingocha was picked up by AR men in civies from a house located at Kakching Khunou around midnight yesterday and slayed him in a fake encounter.
No arrest memo was served against his detention, said the victims father N Babuyaima while conveying that meira paibis and other bodies would meet tomorrow to deliberate on the AR excesses.
Informing that Ingochas body is laying at RIMS morgue whether the same will be claimed would be decided at the meeting, said the father and confided of Ingocha being a simple cultivator who left behind his wife and three children.
clarifying further, Babuyaima said Ingocha left the home at around 2.30 pm to accompany his musical band member friends for a Thabal Chongba programme at Kakching Khunou last evening.
When Ingocha was about to return home, his (Babuyaima) friend Khaidem naocha of Kakching Khunou asked him (Ingocha) to stay over as the night hours were getting late.
Around midnight some Ar men in civies intruded into naochas residence and picked up Ingocha with some family members made to face the AR wrath for attempting to prevent Ingocha being taken away without issuing any arrest memo, the father narrated.
Babuyaima also disclosed of his son arrested by police earlier on charges of being a UG member only to be released on bail.
