Imphal, October 12 2009: Reacting to the statement of the Imphal West SSP that one UNLF cadre identified as Khomdram Ratan s/o Kh Ibotombi of Singjamei Wangma Kshetri Leikai was arrested from his home at about 9.15 am of October 10, the proscribed UNLF has refuted any connection whatsoever between the outfit and Khomdram Ratan.

A press release issued by the outfit's senior publicity officer Ksh Yoiheiba asserted that such acts of arrest, detention and killing of innocent civilians perpetrated by Manipur Police under fabricated charges have been exposed to the whole world by Tehelka magazine after July 23 Khwairamband killings.

It further maintained that the alleged attempt of the Government to suppress the ongoing people's movement with brute force would never succeed.
