Imphal, Jul 11:
The Zeliangrong students' Union (Nungba Area), United Nungba Youth club Organisation and Nungba Area women Welfare Organisation have submitted a joint memorandum to the Chief Minister O ibobi Singh demanding reinstatement of Dr Z Kamei, posting of adequate staff with necessary equipment and early completion of CHC building.
The representation submitted today expressed strong annoyance on the transfer of Dr Kamei in the midst of Nungba public demanding sufficient placement of doctors and other staffs at the Nungba CHC which had only two doctors before the transfer of the said doctor.
While highlighting that the CHC is manned by two attendants and no nurse, the bodies also decried absence of diagnostic equipment like X-ray, ultra sound and cabaratories machines necessary for detection of malaria parasites.
Expressing concern that lack of these basic facilities has often resulted in casualties due to seasonal outbreak of malaria diseases, the memorandum asked the Government to provide adequate staff, technicians, ambulance etc to address emergency cases within ten days time failing which the bodies would launch various form of agitation starting with five days economic blockade of National Highway 53.They also took grim note of lack of progress in the construction of the 30 bedded rural hospital building which began as a consequence of the 'development seminar' held under the aegis of Union Ministry of Home Affairs in 2000.
