The students union of Ukhrul Higher Secondary School (UHSS) has started a sit in protest from today to demand a full fledged Principal of the institution at the
school gate.
The students held placards with the slogans �We want quality education not quantity� and a banner �We demand full fledged Principal.� While talking to this correspondent, Thotngaleng Chiphang, general secretary, UHSS stated that though the institution is the oldest Government high school in Manipur's East District (established in 1952) and upgraded to a higher secondary in 1995 it has been without a full fledged Principal since September 14 this year.
He further said that on September 15 this year Madam L.Rashi Devi who is a full fledged & qualified Principal gave the joining report however on November 15 she was again transferred without assigning any reason living the school without a Principal.
The students union also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Secretary, through the DC Ukhrul.
Among others the memorandum demanded an administrative order to post a full fledged Principal at UHSS with the handing over and taking the charge to be made in the presence of the student body.
An order be made that without the District Administrative Knowledge (DC/DM) the transfer of any employee from the Dist should not be effected.
The Principal should be posted within
December.
