A drama festival of the Chorus Repertory Theatre would be hosted by renown film and theatre personality Amol Palekar in the month of December at Pune.
In this connection, Amol Palekar along with writer wife Sandhya Gokhale came to Imphal on May 5 to met the director of Chorus Repertory Theatre Ratan Thiyam.
In all six dramas including three in Sanskrit and three in Manipuri would be presented during the festival to be held at Pune.
Amol Palekar has been hosting the drama festivals of noted Indian playwrights and directors for the last two years.
He came down to Imphal specially to held discussion with Ratan Thiyam on the proposed drama festival.
Before leaving Imphal today, Amol Palekar interacted and held discussion on various issues related to film over a cup of tea with Cine Artistes and Technicians Association (CATA) president RK Gyanranjan, secretary Makhonmani Mongshaba, treasurer Kh Anita, former CATA president Meghachandra Kongbam, film maker L Bangka, singer K Dinesh Sharma, president of Manipur Film Journalists and Critics Association president RK Bidur among others.
During the interaction, Amol Palekar observed that for the revival of Marathi film, they used to make films with themes picked up from classic Marathi literary works by giving a new look.
Such films are liked by the audiences.
How the taste of the regional film should be given to the audience should be always kept in mind while making any films.
He pointed out that Manipur has such illustrious writers like MK Binodini based on whose works, a new look can be given to the Manipuri films.
