At least eight activists of different underground organisations have been apprehended in the last three days.
According to a statement issued by Imphal East district's Superintendent of Police L Kailun a combined team of IE commandos and 32 Assam Rifles arrested three PREPAK activists at around 11 am today from Ucheckon Lairenpat area where the security team was on frisking duty.
Identifying the PREPAK trio as Moirangthem Ranjit alias Lukhoibi (24) s/o M Ibochou of Ucheckon Takhok Mapal, Seram Inaoba (25) s/o S Angangyaima of nambol Thiyam and Thokchom Abungcha (18) s/o Th Bosan of Nambol Langpok, the SP conveyed of M Ranjit's disclosure of joining the banned outfit in March, 2003 through one Kanta.
Inaoba and Abungcha are said to be new recruits of the armed group.
Another team of Imphal East CDOs conducted cordon and search operation at Heirangoithong maibam Leikai area resulting in the arrest of a KYKL activist named Lairenjam Romendro Singh alias Tomba (21) s/o (L) L Ranbir of the same locality at around 11.10 am.
Nearly two hours later, search operation at Zoumivilla led to the netting of a KNF activist identified as one Thanginmang Zou (32) s/o Paothang Zou of Songjang village in Senapati district.
On November 4, personnel of 32 AR and commandos of Imphal East nabbed a PREPAK activist identified as Wahengbam Polen Singh alias Naocha (22) s/o W Sodora of Pungdongbam from the same locality at around 4 am.
Informing that the arrest was made after getting specific information, the SP besides confiding that the Pungdongbam youngster had joined PREPAK in March this year through one Anand, also said that Polen was involved in extortion of money from Government offices located in Imphal East district under his recruiter's command.
The same day at around 6 am, a PLA activist identified as Pebam Panditkumar alias Tomba alias roshan (20) s/o P Sunder of Singjamei Wangma Pebiya Pandit Leikai was apprehended from Bamon Leikai Mange Makhong area.
Having joined the PLA in october, 2003 through one Lamnganba and acquired training at Sajik Tampak under army No.2067, Panditkumar is said to have worked at Thangjing area under the command of S/S Lt Angou.
Meanwhile, PRO IGAR (S) informed of 19 AR personnel arresting one KCP activist from Patlou area this morning from whom three live rounds of 9 mm ammunition had been recovered.
The arrested person identified as Sanajaoba Singh (38) s/o (L) Th Dhananjoy Singh of Yumnam Patlou has been handed over to Lamlai police station this afternoon.
