Imphal, Sep 03: Charging with failure of dispensing his official duties as district administrator, various social organisations of Ukhrul district have demanded the transfer of Deputy Commission of Ukhrul from the district.

Setting September 10 as the deadline for transferring the said official, these social organisations have also warned of taking recourse of various agitation the consequences of which are to be borne by the Government.

In a memorandum jointly submitted to Chief Minister, Northern Raphei Students' Union (NRSU), Yang Raphei Conference (YRC), Hunphun Katamnao Long (HKL), KKYNSA and Kathor Katamnao Long (KKL) contended that the Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul has failed in addressing the basic needs of the people.

Spelling out some of the alleged misconduct of the Deputy Commissioner, the memorandum said that the Deputy Commissioner has been deducting percentages from the fund released for various social welfare schemes of the Government of India and Manipur as expenditure for his frequent travel to Delhi and Imphal.

This act of the Deputy Commissioner is unbecoming of responsible administrator of the district, the memorandum said.

Charging the Deputy Commissioner with working in the interest of a few capitalists mongers and causing misery to the masses, the memorandum jointly signed by NRSU president Tennyson Zimik, YRC president Tuithing Zingkhai, HKL president AS Vareshang, KKYNSA president Yaomichan Kasung and KKL president Ringashung Kasar further charged the DC with shifting his office to his official residence thereby causing lot of inconveniences to the people.

The memorandum further charged that the Deputy Commissioner has not made the Mobile Dispensary under BADP 2005-06 functional till date although the function released for the said purpose had been reportedly withdrawn, thereby depriving the benefit of the programme to the people living in far flung areas of the district.

It is also unfortunate the fund for centrally sponsored Swajaldhara/water sanitation project, which is to be implemented through the Deputy Commission is being implemented through his vested individual agents for his own selfish ends, it added.
