A two-day workshop on human rights has kickstarted today organised by an NGO called BUFFALO for the Naga Peoples Movement for Human Rights (NPM-HR), FITA, Rongmei Lu Phuam, Thangal Women' s Union, CCDD, BUFFALO and Committee on Human Rights (COHR) at MBC Conference hall in Imphal where Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC) chairman WA Shishak was the resource person.
Speaking on the occasion as the main speaker, WA Shisak dwelt on the deep meaning of human rights.
The MHRC chairman opined that deep rooted corruption cases in Manipur have been the violator of human rights.
Shishak said that he had been immensely concerned by this ugly development.
Shishak also said that the human rights issue begins right from the birth of oneself till the grave.
The MHRC then suggested that the law enforcement agencies/forces should be in the priority list for sensitising so as to minimise human rights violation.
Leaders from Tamenglong, Senapati, Ukhrul and Chandel and also from the valley districts participated in the workshop.
