Imphal, Jun 01:
With the completion of 43 days of the cease work strike launched by the Joint Administrative Council of AMTUC and AMGEO, all the State Departments/offices have been paralysed, claimed the JAC in a press statement.
The JAC explained that it did not respond to the invitation of the Chief Minister for a talk on the issue as the State failed to release its leaders lodged in jail.
It reminded that it is the accepted norms to release imprisoned JAC leaders or employees detained by the State prior to any talk for a solution to any impasse.
The condition of the State to release the JAC leaders only after the impasse is resolved and their motive to exercise power in the negotiation keeping the imprisoned leaders as their trump cards is condemnable and treacherous, it asserted.
It further clarified that the JAC is not an armed militant group but forerunners in the endeavour to safeguard the democratic rights of the employees and pensioners.
Taking strong exception to the bargaining tactics resorted to by the Chief Minister by detaining the JAC leaders, it noted that such harsh attitude adopted by the State towards its own employees would not be in the interest of the people.
Reiterating its stand to abstain from any kind of negotiation until and unless the imprisoned JAC leaders are released, it disclosed that its cease work stir would not be suspended before its demands are met.
