Imphal, March 27: Employees of the Board of Secretary Education, Manipur have launched an indefinite cease work strike from today to protest the alleged appointment of a person who does not fulfil the requisite RR as the Secretary in-charge of the Board.

After the recent demise of former Secretary in-charge of BSEM RK Radhesana Devi, Joint Secretary Phurailatpam Nandakumar has taken over the charge of the office of the Secretary.

According to secretary of BSEM Employees Union Y Nageshore, written compliant against appointment of any person who does not fulfil the requisite RR as Secretary of the Board had already been submitted to the Chief Minister and the Education Minister.

But instead of giving a sympathetic consideration to the demand of the employees, the Government went ahead and issued an order appointing L Iboyaima Singh as the Secretary.

Soon after the order was issued today, the aggrieved employees decided to launch an indefinite cease work strike with effect from 3 pm today, the Union secretary informed.
