Imphal, March 25:
The general public of Churachandpur yesterday enco- untered what can be termed as a mock at the democratic system after a local paper displays an employment news issued by District Employment Officer, Churachanpur for recruiting 70 Assistant Teachers, 2 Pharmacist and ANM and gave the last date of submitting application the same day, thereby allocating aspirants, a mere 10 hours for compliance.
According to Zomi Students Federation, a pioneer students body in addressing the grievances of the district, the alleged notification was issued on 22nd March, 2006 but for reasons known best to the DEO/CCpur it was notified to the local papers only on 24th March, 2006.ZSF said that this is a clear case of depriving equal opportunities to its citizens and a breach of Fundamental Rights that were enshrined in the Indian Constitution.
In addition the student body alleged that it was a conscious act of contempt by the State Government mean to deprive opportunity to the masses.
Contending that Government of Manipur avoid its art of breaking and bending all norms as well as insisting sufficient time to aspirants, the students body said, If the government failed to extend the last date for submission of application form, the ZSF shall not allow to proceed with the present recruitment drive.
Furthermore, the ZSF in pursuance its ultimatum served to contractors about the details of the work estimates, cost of construction, duration of work, date of completion, actual amount of money spent and withdrawn besides the names of contractors within the period 2003-06 for constructing CCpur-Singngat Road from EE/PWD churachandpur.
Failing to respond their appeal will compelled them to invoke the Right to Information, states the ZSF in their representation, copies of which were handed over to the press.
