Chandel, November 19: The literary meet cum meritorious award, 2005 function of Maring Students� Union was held yesterday at Salemphai Bording, Teraphai, Pallel.

MLA of 42-Tengnoupal Assembly Constituency DK Korungthang and Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO), Machi Block Kh Ibombi Singh inaugurated the function as chief guest and president respectively.

Speaking at the occasion, Korungthang advised the students to study hard.

He also presented cash award and merit certificates to 14 students who passed in 1st division in the Board examination from 42-Tengnoupal Assembly Constituency.

Each of meritorious received an amount of Rs 1000.The cash prizes of the 4th Moshimther District Level Science Competition held in two categories under the aegis of MSU were also presented to the winners.

The chief guest and the functional also donated a sum of Rs 10,000 and Rs 1000 respectively to MSU.

As part of the annual function, debate and symposium competitions were also organised in which many students participated enthusiastically.

Meanwhile, the three-day long workshop on Women empowerment for village women society leaders concluded today at Reach-M office Nungourok village, Pallel.
