Imphal, November 12: A team of agricultural experts today visited Wangjing Tentha to inspect and check the chemical contents in the soil of the area which is consider as one of the most fertile and productive region in the State.

The experts of Soil Testing Laboratory, Mantripukhri after conducting a thorough survey of the area, undertook counselling on the alternative means other than chemical fertilizers to retain the fertility of soil and to produce chemical free agricultural products.

To check food contamination and soil degradation, a high level Committee was instituted recently with Agriculture Director as chairman, Agriculture Officer (Chemistry) as member secretary and three experts from Central Agricultural University(CAU) as members.

The Committee has been entrusted to undertake such soil analysis in different parts of Manipur.

Many experts of CAU presented lectures on soil conservation and damage caused by excessive use of chemical fertilizers both to our health and soil fertility in an awareness programme held today under the theme "Improvement of Soil ,Health Affected by Chemicals Cum Evaluation Through Field Demonstration at Wangjing Tentha.
