Two prime suspects in the killing of Ahongshangbam Nandalal who was shot dead on May 22 have fallen into the dragnet of the Imphal East police today.
Talking to the press, Imphal East SP, Kh Chandramani said that of the two prime accused, one is a rifleman of the III IRB attached to the Thoubal police.
The IRB man has been identified as Angom Indrajit alias Keibi (24) of Khurai Thangjam Leikai while his accomplice has been identified as Laishram Roji (21) of Khurai Thoidingjam Leikai.
The police have also recovered the 9 mm pistol used by the IRB man in the killing of Nandalal, said the police officer.
Two vehicles, a Kinetic (MN1J-5251) and a Bajaj Calibre (2275) used by the killers have also been picked up.
The SP further said that a special team of the Imphal East police was pressed into service to crack the case on May 24.The two were among the suspects rounded up by the police, he informed adding that six others have also been picked up.
The six have been named as Mutum John alias Mahajon (29) of Khurai Kongpal Sajor Leikai, Moirangthem Sunil (21) of Khurai Thoidingjam Leikai, Ahanthem Megha (22) of Khurai Thoidingjam Leikai, Leimapokpam Momo (21) of Khurai Thangjam Leikai, Thangjam Ajitkumar (20) of Khurai Thangjam Leikai and Meinam Bipin (20) of Khurai Soibam Leikai.
CO of III IRB C Doungel told The Sangai Express that the investigation has just started and if the guilt of the IRB man is established then due action will be taken up.
