Imphal, September 10: Many social organisations including student bodies have announced their unflinching support to the 48-hour general strike being called by All Manipur Muslim Students� Organisation (AMMSO) from midnight of September 12.AMMSO has called the general strike in pursuance of its demand for a reservation policy for the Muslim community living in the State.

Some of the organisations which have announced their decision to ensure the success of the proposed general strike are Association of Muslim Women Organisations, Manipur; Manipur Service League; All Manipur Muslim Women Development Organisation, Islamic Guide Center (Lilong), Rural Area Youths� Development Organisation, (lilong Haoreibi), Lilong Turel Ahanbi Social Development Organisation, Sangomsang Suptu Kaong Development Association and Turel Indigah Youth Development Organisation (Yairipok).

Toupokpi Youth Progressive Association (Yairipok Tulihal), Changamdabi Muhammadan Club, Chingkham Mamang Development Organsiation (Usoipokpi), Youth Voluntary Organisation (Lilong Yangbi Leikai), Live Stock-cum-Pisciculture Co-operative Society Limited (Yairipok Tulihal), Oinam Sawombung Muslim Social Helper cum Library Association, Tharaorok Youth Club (Thoubal), etc, have also pledged their support to the general strike.
