Imphal, December 28:
Chief Minister O Ibobi has categorically stated that in case of any differences amongst the Ministers and MLAs of the Congress, the matter should be discussed and efforts made to rectify matter internally as in a family instead of going to the media.
Ibobi was speaking at the occasion of 122nd foundation day of Congress Party at Congress Bhavan here today.
The Chief Minister who attended the foundation day function as chief guest also exhorted all the Ministers to go and find out the needs of the people living in far flung areas rather than clinching to their chairs in the Secretariat.
On the other hand, MPCC (I) president Gaikhangam who presided over the function said that it is essential on the part of the party to analyse how far the Govt has been able to translate the promises made during the run up to the election so far.
Addressing the party workers, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh observed that the real concern of the Congress party, which is also the oldest political party in the country, is not to betray the trust of the people whether it be in power or out of power.
The Chief Minister maintained that it is quite natural to face certain difficulties in remaining at the helm of the power for long as the expectation of the people may increase while the Government may not be in a position to fulfil all their demands, thus resulting in differences of opinion.
However, inspite of the difference in opinions, one should have the guts to admit one's own mistakes so that efforts can be made jointly to rectify the same, the Chief Minister said, while on the other asserting that there is no difference of opinion within the Congress party.
Outlining the objective of the SPF Govt as improving the law and order condition, restoration of peace and normalcy and enhancing financial management, the Chief Minister informed that steps have been taken up to disburse the salaries of the employees through their respective bank accounts so as to rule out any possibility of deduction of their salaries by the UGs.
The Chief Minister further said that the Government has decided to take up action against the employees of the Health Department who do not go to their place of post in within a week.
Giving the presidential address, MPCC (I) president Gaikhangam said that the main objective of his party to serve the people fully.
To work without understanding the pulse and sentiment of the people would become ultimately become a burden.
The faith of the people repose on the party should never be belief, he said, adding that it is high time to find out how far the promises made during election time had been fulfilled.
He also, nonetheless, maintained that there is no difference of opinion within the Congress party and it is unfortunate on the part of other political parties to poke their noses in the internal affairs of Congress party.
Attended by many party workers, the congregation observed one minute silence as mark of respect to former premier of Pakistan Benazi Bhutto who had been assassinated by Al-Qaeda terrorists.
