Imphal, September 25:
Outlining the outfit's philosophy with regard to the unification of all armed groups in Manipur, Chaoren said that RPF is of the belief that all must endeavour to explore a path for the revolutionary parties, even with different ideologies and visions to take up the revolutionary work under a common platform.
However, it is not easy to bring up the issue of unity in the present state of affairs prevailing within the revolutionary parties, said the PLA leader and hastened to add that on the other hand, efforts should be made to unite the factions of some revolutionary groups.
|
Encouragement or help from other parties will not be enough to bring a long lasting unity unless the factions themself come to an agreement, he observed.
It will be more rewarding for the organisations beset with factionalism to search the path for their unification on their own and in the process learn to discharge their duties responsibly.
Ruling out the possibility of aligning with any organisations beset with factionalism, Chaoren said that such a move will only incite more bitterness and promote fissures.
It is for this reason, why the people should stop supporting and helping the different factions.
Rather pressure should be mounted on them to unite.
Acknowledging the presence of various revolutionary groups in Manipur and the accompanying problems, the PLA leader said that the urgent need is for all the revolutionary organisations to build a powerful revolutionary party.
The time is ripe to analyse the direction of the revolutionary movement, said Chaoren and added that this is important in the light of the people of the world coming together against terrorism.
If the gravity of the issue is not realised, then India may succeed in its attempt to portray the independence movement as terrorist activities before the international community, said Chaoren.
Taking note of the covert understanding reached by the Indian army with rebel groups of various communities in Manipur, the PLA leader opined that this is being done in the name of negotiation to drive a wedge between the different communities of the State.
The steps being taken up to set up some of the rebel groups to contain the revolutionary movements by giving them tactical support may lead to a communal flare up, warned Chaoren and reminded the people of the Kuki-Naga clash and the Kuki-Paite clash.
These clashes were the results of the instigations of the Indian army, alleged the PLA chief.
The recent killing of 10 KLA cadres at Tangkhul Hundung is another example, it noted.
On behalf of the RPF, Chaoren appealed to all the revolutionary organisations of various communities to come together and work for Manipur with a new ideology and vision.
The PLA leader also appealed to the media in Manipur to publish only the truth while covering news related to the revolutionary struggle so as not to confuse the people.
Journalists should lead the people with correct information without any biases, he observed.
Chaoren also urged all not to intimidate or interfere in the working of the media.
Touching on a whole range of issues, the PLA chief said that the people of Manipur to can contribute their mite in fighting the ecological imbalance.
Towards this end, he suggested that measures be taken up to offset the fast deleting forest cover in Manipur.
This is for the future generation, he observed.
Citing the Chinese example, Chaoren said that though the deforestation rate in China is very high, the Government has made it mandatory for all those between the age of 11 and 60 to plant five saplings each year.
Quoting a report of the Chinese Govt, Chaoren said that a minimum of a billion trees have been planted each year since 1982.Stating that the people must take the issue seriously, the PLA president noted that it would be futile to expect only the Government Departments to promote afforestation.
Pointing out that the international community is comparing the development growth of India and China, Chaoren said that Manipur can learn a lesson from China in the fact that its growth rate has been tremendous.
Delving deeper, Chaoren said that the China has out raced India on the development index because of the research and development works taken up by its numerous scientists.
At the moment China is estimated to have 1,60,000 scientists and it will take India more than 150 years to catch up with the number, said the PLA president.
Moreover most of the Chinese scientists work at China, giving benefits to the land of their birth.
This is because of a strong sense of patriotism triggered by the fact that the Chinese students are educated in their country and not somewhere else.
By contrast, many Indian students study outside their own country which deprives them a sense of patriotism.
Hence this makes the students believe that their knowledge can be used in other countries, argued Chaoren.
The people of Manipur should from the Chinese experience and educate their children in their homeland so that patriotism is instilled on them.
To work towards this end, efforts should be made to provide the needed infrastructure and create the right academic atmosphere.
Special arrangements may also be made for teaching methods, to instil a sense of patriotism on the young minds, said the PLA president.
Specific issues are better discussed and analysed inside the class rooms instead to dragging the young students out on the streets to take part in bandhs and strikes, advised Chaoren.
The PLA president reminded the people that all are living in a state of war and this conflict will continue as long as India continues her rule.
It will not be possible for anyone to remain isolated from the ongoing conflict situation, he observed and added that it would be futile to divide the people as those engaged in the war and those not engaged.
One day or the other all the people will get their share of responsibility for the war, said Chaoren and added that this has been witnessed in the history of the world.
The PLA chief also exhorted the people to prepare to join hands to face the impending eventuality.
PLA's birthday : In connection with the 29th anniversary of PLA, balloons with banners inscribed with wording like 'Victory belongs to Manipuri people', 'Long live RPF', 'Victory to PLA', etc were reportedly seen being released in the air in different parts of the State today.
Similar festoons and banners were also seen being put on the road sides which were removed by the security personnel.
Fire works were also displayed and candles lit at various places during the night in connection with the anniversary.
