Imphal, November 20: In a major breakthrough, Imphal West District Police Commandos have arrested an active member of the proscribed KYKL who is also working as the chief advisor of the outfit's New Operation Kangleipak, which is investigating the cases of fake appointment in Education Department.

The arrested KYKL member identified as Changamayum Manoranjan Khuman alias Khumanlemba alias Baba (50) s/o Ch Brajakishor Singh of Pishumthong Ningom Leirak but staying at Langol Housing Complex, Type-III, E-41 is also said to have worked earlier as the chief security advisor of former Nagaland Chief Minister SC Jamir.

Addressing a press conference in this connection at Imphal West District Headquarters today afternoon, SP of Imphal West District Clay Khongsai informed that Manoranjan was arrested while during frisking and checking operation at Kwakeithel Bazar area at around 11 am yesterday.

Along with recovering one Satellite phone with charger, a battery for wireless set, one mobile with Aircel SIM card no.bearing 9856313057, one Stethoscope, one BP measuring instrument, one fake identity card in the name of Dr Ch Manoranjan Khuman and documents having list of the names of teachers posted in different schools, a Maruti car Alto bearing registration number MN1K-9312 silver colour in which Manoranjan was travelling has also been seized, the SP informed.

The SP said Manoranjan is an influential person who was earlier worked as the chief security advisor of former Chief Minister of Nagaland SC Jamir.

During the course of interrogation, Manoranjan disclosed that he was deputed by one self style major Ibo of Nambol of the outfit to investigate into the fake appointment cases of teachers in the Education Department and names of the fake appointed teachers published in the local dailies were the inputs given by him to the ONK captain Wangba Khuman of Leimapokpam, the SP told mediapersons.

The SP further informed that Manoranjan joined KYKL in 2005 through one Ingba Mangang alias Shantikumar of Porompat, Imphal East.

According to Manoranjan, the Satellite phone seized from his possession was meant to be delivered to one self style Lt Shanta Macha of KYKL, the SP further informed.
