Imphal, October 09: Hectic preparations are underway on a war footing to roll out the red carpet for President APJ Kalam, who is scheduled to visit the State on October 16.Besides addressing the 10th convocation of Manipur University, the President will also visit the Exotic Juice Limited at Mao and Bungmual High School at Churachandpur district.

It will be the second visit of the President to the State.

Talking to The Sangai Express, a senior police officer disclosed that consultations for security arrangements in and around the University complex have been made and deployment of security personnel would be intensified in no time.

The security rehearsal of the President's scheduled visit would also be carried out ahead of October 16, the officer said.

On the other hand, repairing works at the varsity including renovation of the buildings, repairing of the inner roads and lanes, etc are nearing completion, official sources said.

As per the schedule, the President will touch down at Imphal Airport from Guwahati by a special aircraft at 9.20 am of October 16.From there, he will proceed to Manipur University by a helicopter and later to Churachandpur and Mao before leaving for Mizoram on the same day.

Superintendent of Police of Senapati District Kh Chandramani Singh said State security forces have already been deployed at the premises of Exotic Juice Limited as pre-emptive measures ahead of the President' visit.

A full rehearsal on the matter will also be conducted at the area on October 15.When contacted General Manager of the Juice Processing Unit Adani Mao told The Sangai Express that renovation works at the factory have almost been completed and the ground located near the factory will be used as the helipad for the President's arrival.

The approach road between the helipad and the factory covering a distance of 214 metres will also be developed by the State PWD from tomorrow, he informed.

The President will land at the factory site at around 11.15 am and he is scheduled to spend around 40 minutes interacting with the staff and local people, Adani said, adding that on his arrival the a traditional welcome would be accorded to the august visitor.

The President is also set to interact with children of five schools located in Mao area for five minutes before meeting the local farmers engaged in cultivation of Passion fruits, Ginger and Turmeric, he informed, adding that he will also interact with Mao elders and witness a brief cultural show before departing.

Meanwhile, road development work between Tiddim and Bungmual High School in Churachandpur district and renovation of the school building are also being done at a faster pace.

Though the location of the school falls within the jurisdiction of Moirang Police Station of Bishnupur district the same is covered by the revenue district of Churachandpur.

Thus the officials of both the districts working in tandem to ensure nothing go amiss during the visit of the resident to the school.
