Imphal, December 07: Following days of camping at New Delhi to present their case to AICC leaders in their oust Ibobi campaign, most of the rebel MLAs will touch down at Tulihal airport tomorrow.

Speaking to The Sangai Express a source from the rebel camp at New Delhi said that after meeting Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh yesterday, the rebel MLAs met AICC chief Sonia Gandhi today at about 11 am and made their stand against the continued leadership of O Ibobi clear.

Sonia Gandhi is also the Chairperson of the UPA.

The rebel MLAs were led by senior Congress man, Th Debendra and during their meeting with Sonia Gandhi, they gave a detailed account of the deteriorating law and order situation in the State, the 'total flop' of the administration, tardy development works as well as the growing dissatisfaction among the Congress workers in the MPCC (I) against the Chief Minister's leadership.

Though details of what were discussed at the meeting were not disclosed, the dissident MLAs said that they made their stand against Ibobi very clear and expect something concrete to materialise soon.

With the AICC leadership finally deciding to depute a Central observer to Imphal in the form of Prithiviraj Chauhan, a large number of the rebel MLAs are set to return tomorrow.

Even at Imphal, the dissident MLAs will continue with their camp, disclosed another source and added that they have decided to return in case there is a need to show their strength.

Th Debendra is reported to have left Delhi for Kolkata today on his way back to Imphal tomorrow.

Prithiviraj Chauhan, the general secretary in charge of North East was supposed to arrive here on December 9, but the date has been rescheduled to December 11.Chauhan will leave Imphal the following day, after studying the situation.

During his stay here, Chauhan who is also the Minister of State for Home and PMO, is scheduled to meet District Congress Committee presidents, former Congress candidates in the election, leaders of frontal organisations of the party and other related persons on the first day.

The next day will be reserved for studying the law and order situation before his departure for Delhi.

Chauhan will submit a report to the AICC high command on reaching Delhi and action will be taken up on the basis of his inputs.

On the other hand, despite the pressure mounted by the dissident MLAs, the AICC is expected to let the status quo continue until the elections in Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat are over.

Gujarat will go to the polls on December 16 while election in Himachal Pradesh will be held on December 19.
