Set but after consuming years not all 'really ready'

Imphal, December 02 2011: With all the roads and bridges where the cavalcade of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi is set to cover freshly re-painted and decorated with colourful flags, Imphal is ready to roll out the red carpet to the visiting high profile leaders.

Ahead of the Prime Minister's visit, DoNER Minister Pawan Singh Ghatowar arrived here today and held separate meetings with the Governor and the Chief Minister.

Starting from the airport, all the roads leading to Palace Compound, Khuman Lampak, Chingmeirong and Kangla have been swept clean in addition to hoisting colourful flags all along these roads.

Though it is not the usual scene, Imphal city looks like a clean and tidy city as of now.

Moreover, security forces have been deployed all along the roads so as to ward off any untoward incident or disturbance during the Prime Minister's and UPA Chairperson's visit.

The gate of the ISBT explains the stage of its 'completion'

All the projects which would be inaugurated by the Prime Minister have been barricaded by multiple layers of security forces.

Though City Convention Centre, MFDC's auditorium, ISBT, Assembly building and High Court building are ready for inauguration they are not totally complete.

Construction work of City Convention Centre started from March, 2009 with Simplex Company as the implementing agency under Special Plan Assistance at the cost of Rs 53.89 crores.

The City Convention Centre has one main auditorium and five multipurpose halls.

The main auditorium is equipped with 746 seats having desks and another 300 seats without desks.

Above this auditorium, there is a conference hall, an audio-visual hall and 18 seats for VVIPs.

When viewed from outside, the City Convention Centre looks like it has been fully completed but the interior and rear portions are far being complete.

Construction work of MFDC auditorium was suspended for a long time before Manipur Development Society resumed the construction work from 2008-09 with SPA funds at the estimated cost of Rs 14.88 crores.

The auditorium having 800 seats is equipped with infrastructure fit for hosting regional, national and international film festivals.

Like the City Convention Centre, the auditorium's southern and interior portions are yet to be fully completed.

Avantika Construction (I) Limited started construction work of ISBT at Khuman Lampak from December 2009 with funding from the North Eastern Council at the estimated cost of Rs 24,55,39,961 .

The bus terminus would have facility for parking 105 buses at a time and but the construction work has not been finished completely.

Major civil works of the new Assembly building of 150 seat capacity which is a component of the capital project have been completed.

Foundation stone of the Assembly building was laid by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on November 20, 2004 .

Simplex Infrastructure Private Limited which is constructing the Assembly building is yet to finish the Assembly Secretariat and the budget hall.

The High Court building was also constructed by the Simplex Infrastructure Private Limited at the cost of Rs 131.58 crores.

Though major civil works of the High Court building have been completed, many portions still remain incomplete.
