Imphal, Aug 01: Chief Minister O Ibobi today instructed the officials concerned to re-demarcate the Jadonang memorial site during an inspection tour within the Keishampat Power House complex.

Today's inspection tour was in accordance with the resolutions adopted during a meeting earlier today presided by the Chief Minister and attended by PDA Chairman K Ranjit, Chief Secretary Jarnail Singh, Principal Secretary (Home) AE Ahmad and other officials concerned.

The meeting resolved to ensure completion of the development work at Hi-Cham Yai-Cham Pat before August 13 and to commence development work of Haipou Jadonang memorial complex.

It also decided to convene another meeting tomorrow at 10 am for re-demarcation of Jodonang's memorial site and its development.

During the tour, the Chief Minister also asked the officials to complete land development and fencing works ahead of Haipou Jadonang's anniversary on August 29.To a question by reporters, Ibobi said that the site where Haipou Jadonang was hung to death by the British imperialists would be developed with proper architectural designing but it would be too late for the coming anniversary.

He further stated that memorial sites of leaders and martyrs belonging to other ethnic groups of Manipur will also be developed soon if there is any one left out.

Despite disturbances and hindrances posed by armed groups in the construction of the BT Flyover, the State Government has a definite plan to inaugurate the flyover before November, disclosed the Chief Minister.

Coming down heavily on the culture of calling bandhs and blockades at the slightest pretext, he noted that bandhs and blockades not only impede development and progress of the society but also bring about untold miseries to the common people.

He observed that people should not support irrational bandhs and blockades while appealing to the people to prevail over miscreants against imposing bandhs and blockades for 'non-issues'.

Even as the Chief Minister was pleased with the progress of development works at BT Park and Hi-Cham Yai-Cham Pat, he conveyed some reservation over the possibility of completion of gate construction work at BT Park.

Informing that the tomb complex of Hi-Cham Yai-Cham Pat would be formally opened on the coming Patriots' Day by Governor Dr SS Sidhu, Ibobi attributed the ability to develop the complex in such a short span of time to the desire of the people and the commitment of SPF Government.

Mentioning that the complex would be maintained by the Art and Culture Department, the Chief Minister appealed to the people to cooperate in keeping the memorial site neat and clean.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by PDA Chairman K Ranjit, Chief Secretary Jarnail Singh and other top officials.
