Imphal, April 24: With the wrapping up of the election campaign today, the stage is finally ready for holding the Lok Sabha election to the Inner Manipur Parliamentary seat on April 26 under the shadow of threat and boycott call from under outfits as well as social organizations.

Arrangements have also been made for transporting the polling materials and the personnel to their respective polling stations from tomorrow.

Six candidates, including two Independents are in fray.

They are Dr Thokchom Meinya of INC, Thounaojam Chaoba of BJP, Dr Moirangthem Nara Singh of CPI, Dr Leishangthem Chandramani Singh of Federal Party of Manipur while the two independent candidates are Moirangthem Iboyaima and Moirangthem Homendro.

In all, 7,80,716 voters would be exercising their franchise at 911 polling stations spread over 32 Assembly Constituencies.

There are 361 polling stations in Imphal West district, 289 in Imphal East, 170 in Bishnupur district and 91 in Thoubal district.

Polling would begin from 7 am and continue till 5 pm of April.

The number of female voters in Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency outnumbers their male counterparts.

The total number of female voters is 3,86,132 against 3,53,096 male voters.

The Assembly segment with the highest number of voter is 26-Moirang with a total electorate of 29,531 while 13-Singjamei having 18,255 voters in the electoral roll is billed as the Assembly segment with the least number of voters.

On the other hand, the polling station with the largest number of voters is said to be Mutum Leikai Primary School of 4/3 Porompat and one with the least number of voters is 9/31 Bheirodan High School.

In Imphal West District, a total of 1805 polling personnel would be on duty and arrangement for transporting them to their respective destination have been made with 125 vehicles, including 57 buses, 47 mini buses and 2\ light vehicles to be pressed into service tomorrow.

The polling personnel would be setting out to their respective polling stations from the office complex of Imphal West DC, Lamphel.

Out of the total 361 designated polling stations in the district, three have been identified as hypersensitive and 39 others as sensitive.

In respect of Thoubal district too, all the polling personnel who would be discharging their duties in the conduct of the Lok Sabha election to the Inner Manipur Parliamentary seat would disperse to designated polling stations from Thoubal DC office complex tomorrow.

Earlier the venue was fixed at Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School ground.

On the other hand, the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for the 170 six polling stations of six Assembly Constituency in Bishnupur District, which have been kept sealed and stored in the Strong Room would be opened tomorrow at 8 am.

The seals of these EVMs would be opened for handing over to the respective presiding officers.
