The BRTF authority has submitted Rs 22.20 crore action plan proposal to the State Government for developing Barak-Jiribam and Jiribam-Silchar sections of national highway 53.According to a reliable source, the BRTF authority while furnishing the amount likely to be required for development of the highway stretches also intimated to the State Government to take up necessary steps to apprise the Centre and acquire the fund.
Detailing on the plan presentation, the source conveyed that the BRTF earmarked Rs 2 crore for renovation/strengthening of bridges within November this year and plan for double laning (WBM) of Barak-Jiribam section by march next year at a cost of Rs 7.78 crore.
Other estimates placed in the BRTF action plan include costs on black-topping of the two highway sections, said the source while informing that Chief Secretary Jarnail Singh is scheduled to visit New Delhi on September 13 to meet Central government officials including that of Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
The source also added that nearly four battalions of the CRPF are currently being deployed along the Imphal-Jiribam route as security cover for the road/bridge development works.
NH-39 expansion: The State Government has taken up necessary steps for expansion of the National Highway 39 stretch from near the MSRTC complex to Singjamei Oinam Thingel by acquiring 1.8048 hectares of pattalands from either sides of the road.
Commissioner (Revenue) P Saratchandra has issued an official notification in this connection yesterday.
The notification issued in exercise of the power conferred by SubSection (1) of Section 6 of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 declared that the said pattalands are needed for the public purpose of expansion of National Highway 39. The said notification has also given necessary directive to the Collector (LA), Imphal West District for executing the land acquisition process.
