Solace in Solitude
Gyanabati Konjengbam *
I stand still and follow the map of the bridges,
To pass through the northern tempest,
And see the garden of the spring merrily flourish,
While chatting with the sun in the south.
No hands but my own to hold onto,
To experience the people in the west,
With dripping sweat, callused hands,
And the charming face blended with heavy clouds,
Moving to the east, to recall the rainbow like laughter of the children.
Light up the mantle of the soul with flames,
While walking on the unknown path barefoot.
Those vigorous dances of the wind on the lake push through the shore of dreams,
Hei ha! Hou ha!
Hold the paddle tighter, row the boat harder.
The midnight's sky serenades a melody of hugs,
A whispering voice adds a note in the verse of moonlight's song,
'Adversity sows the seed on the land of firmness.'
The echoes chill the quietness.
Alone you arrive so as you leave,
As the sun shines at the entrance,
In the courtyard of existence,
Solitude grooms as the light deems,
And solace caresses warmly at the final exit.
