Shadow behind Masquerade
Tourangbam Jenifer *
Utterances of a chant echo
Yet the prayer goes consistently
So, do the sacred offerings.
The aroma of lovely flowers and fruits
Hovers everywhere,
Along the offering of colourful prasad
The scent of Lanceleafvatica sprinkles like rain
However, words of apathy are heard contrary
With an aesthetic masquerade.
Religious words of God utter,
Empathy and sympathy go along.
Nonetheless, behind the masquerade,
Jealousy arises; prejudice and hatred
At their peak.
Greatly amused by the hardships
And sorrows of someone.
Pay heed to, aloof and avert
From the masquerade race.
