Her Signature
Aribam Surjeet Sharma *
Someday, somewhere, our paths crossed,
And I felt something so soft and tender,
Or rather, a sweet refined emotion
Surge up inside me at her graceful sight.
It was like a breath of cool refreshing air
Gently striking my face on a hot day.
It was like the soft sunshine of the morning
Giving warmth, dispersing mists of the night.
As it happened, our paths went together,
Each one having an affinity for the other.
Our lives moved on cloud nine those days--
Days so much precious as to be a treasure
For, that time with her fired my imagination
Triggering creative ideas to sprout
In my mind, like the first rain of spring
Triggering seeds in the soil to sprout.
Then, very very sadly, as fate would have it,
Our paths diverged in different directions
With her having gone on her way, and me
On my way- towards two different worlds.
It was an episode that left me wandering
'What kind of legacy has it left to my life?'
Now, years afterwards, it's my discovery :
She has left her signature in my heart.
