Heart Wrenching Tears
Aribam Surjeet Sharma *
Two siblings--a baby girl, a little boy
On each side of their loving mother
Sleeping quietly into quiet dreams
Under the velvety mantle of the night,
Feeling very much safe and sound,
In the snug security of their home.
The little boy snuggling up
To the mother for more warmth
While the baby girl ensconced
Under the mother's protective arms--
A cozy scene of a sweet family
Suffused with love and care.
A sight that would delight and warm
Your heart and you could say,
"Such a thing lends beauty to life".
But, a sight that sparks malice
To those agents of Satan who say,
"Such a thing should be snuffed out"
Then, a sudden earthshaking explosion,
Shattering the night's velvety mantle,
Shredding the cozy scene to smithereens
And leaving a gruesome bloody mess--
A scene plunging all the mothers
In the land into heart wrenching tears.
