Death Unpredictable
Aribam Surjeet Sharma *
Like many fishes we remain
Swimming down below
In the sea of life.
Like an eagle death remain
Hovering high above
Over the sea of life.
Without a care in the world
We may swim about our days--
Days either sunny or gloomy.
Without any warning whatever,
Death may swoop down
Very swiftly and suddenly
And snatch any one of us,
To the stunned shock
Of those who are left behind.
Today, the turn of someone;
Tomorrow, yours or mine
Something unpredictable.
Unpredictable of when,
But absolutely as certain
As the going out of a candle.
A dark dark reality of life
Against which you and I
Haven't got any divine shield.
