The speech of RSS chief accusing foreign missinaries of lulling
and instigating tribal peoples of North East India to become
Christian and also revolt against the government is totally wrong
and unfounded.
The RSS chief must know that Christianity is not
a cosmo-centric nor anthropo-centric religion. No true followers
of Jesus will put emphasis on worldly things as accused by RSS
chief. The RSS chief must understand that no true Christian is
becoming Christian because of someone's lulling with temporal
benefits.
The core message and central truth of Christianity
is eternal life, a life beyond this life. If the RSS chief really
believes what he thinks the reason for certain tribal groups
to become Christians, his evaluation of Christianity is partial
and his statement unreliable.
Does the RSS chief think that tribal
people don't have clear and independent reason to make their
own decision? His view about tribals in particular and those
converts to Christianity in general is nothing less than a mock
and insult to human dignity and freedom.
Will the RSS chief
accept an act of terror commited by a Hindu as an act of the
whole Hindu community? I think he can't and will not. The same
is with Christians. This kind of presumptuous accusation to particular
community will serve nothing good except promoting hatred among
various sections in our society.
Therefore, one must be careful
not to make any divisive or hatred statement in view of our multi-racial,
multi-cultural and multi-relgion structure of socities in India.
We must rather emphasize things that will promote mutual respect
and love without which no country can really develop and progress.
