National Informatics Centre (NIC) is a premier IT organization of the Government of India providing e-Governance services to the Government at different levels such as Central Government, State Government and District/Sub-District Administration. NIC provides spectrum of services in the domain of e-Governance including consultancy/business process, re-engineering, software development and roll out of applications at National level.

As a part of its support to the Government, NIC has established extensive ICT infrastructure having satellite based network at more than 3,000 locations across the country, Video Conferencing facilities in 490 districts. Nationwide network including 1,00,000 (approximately) Local Area Network (LAN) nodes in different offices of central/state governments. This infrastructure referred to as NICNET provides extensive IT services including national/state level Data Centres, e-mail, web hosting etc. Wide range of technologies in the area of Networking, database management, application development such as JAVA, .NET etc. are being used by NIC professionals to build e-Governance solutions in different domains. NIC, therefore, provides a unique opportunity to IT professionals to get extensive exposure to the state of the art as well as futuristic technologies and also provide real life large scale implementation platform for e-Governance solution for Government at different levels in the country.

In order to meet the increasing demands NIC is looking for bright and committed candidates with good academic background/records in the following technical positions. The number of vacancies across the country are likely to be increased. Applications are invited from Indian Nationals for the following posts in National Informatics Centre.

I. POST & SCALE OF PAY : Scientific Officer/Engineer-SB (Programmer/District Informatics Officer) in the pay scale of Rs. 7450-225-11500/- with usual allowances like DA, CCA, HRA etc., as per Government of India orders from time to time. The place of posting is likely to be in the district centres of the various NIC States including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Nagaland and West Bengal.

Horizontal Reservation : One vacancy reserved for Physically Handicapped (OH)

Job Description / Requirements : Development of software tools and packages for various projects in the areas of MIS application, RDBMS, Network, Multi-media, AI etc. The job will include interaction with user organizations to design various Application products.

Qualification and Experience :

(a) B.E./B.Tech/MCA with first class or minimum 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent and specialization in Computer Science/Computer related areas;

or

(b) M.Sc in Computer Science with first class or at least 60% marks or equivalent;

or

(c) Master's degree in Physics/Maths/Statistics/Operation Research with either Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Science from a Govt. recognized institution/University or at least three years of experience in computer programming is essential. The Master's degree and Post Graduate Diploma should be with 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade.

II. POST & SCALE OF PAY : Scientific/Technical Assistant-B in the pay scale of Rs. 6500-200-10500 with usual allowances like DA, CCA, HRA etc., as per Government of India orders from time to time. The place of posting is likely to be in the offices of the user departments located in different parts of the country.

No of Vacancies : Total : 12 (Twelve) (SC - 2, ST-1, OBC-3, UR-6).

Job Description / Requirements : NICNET operations, assistance in Programming, Analysis & MIS support, coordination of Users and other support functions.

Qualification and Experience :

(a) Master's degree in Physics/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Operations Research/ Economics (with specialisation in Information Technology) with atleast 60% marks in aggregate and One year experience of computer programming is essential;

or

(b) Bachelor's degree in Physics/ Mathematics/Statistics/Operations Research/Economics (with specialization in Information Technology) either with Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Science/Computer Applications (from a Govt. recognized Institution/University) and one year experience in computer programming or with atleast 3 years experience in Computer Programming or equivalent is essential. The Bachelor's degree and Post Graduate Diploma should be with 60% marks in aggregate;

or

(c) B.Sc. in Computer Science or BCA with atleast 60% marks in aggregate and one year experience of computer programming is essential.

AGE LIMIT: 18-30 years as on last date of receipt of applications. The age relaxation will be as per Government of India instructions/rules. Candidates who fulfill the prescribed qualifications and experience may send their application in the prescribed format through online submission in the website . No other mode of submission of forms will be entertained (Please refer the note 7 below).

NOTE:

1. All the posts are temporary but likely to continue indefinitely.
2. It is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that he/she fulfills the eligibility criteria for the post applied for in terms of educational qualifications including percentage of marks, in the degree and diploma, experience, age, etc. Mere calling for test/interview of a candidate does not entail him/her as fulfilling the conditions of eligibility as the same shall be checked/verified only before issuing an offer of appointment letter to the candidate recommended in the panel of selected candidates and the recommendations of the selection committee are subject to verification of eligibility of the candidate in all respect.
3. In the event of information furnished by the candidate in the application or part thereof being found false or detected incorrect at any stage before or after the test/interview or during the service period and/or that the candidate not satisfying the eligibility criteria prescribed above his/her candidature/appointment is liable to be cancelled/terminated automatically without any notice to him/her.
4. Appointment of selected candidates shall be subject to passing the prescribed Medical Test and satisfying other conditions/formalities as prescribed by the Government of India from time to time.
5. There will be a Written test on Computer Programming and related topics for the duration of about two hours for screening the candidates. Only those candidates who qualify in the Written Test will be called for the personal interview. No Traveling Expenses will be paid for attending the Written Test. However, outstation candidates called for personal interview shall be reimbursed single second class return rail fair by the shortest route.
6. The initial posting of the selected candidates will be decided by the competent authority. The candidates selected for appointment will be placed on probation for a period of one year initially, and shall not be considered for transfer on compassionate ground to any other place atleast for a period of five years, except in public interest.
7. Persons working under the Central Government/State Government/Public Sector Undertaking should submit their applications through proper channel. They may however, submit their advance copy through online submission.
8. The marks obtained may be filled in equivalent percentage only and not in grades or total marks obtained. Those who do not have clear 60% or above marks need not apply as 59.9% will not be rounded to 60%.
9. The eligibility of the candidates in terms of educational qualifications, experience, age etc. will be determined with reference to the facts provided as on the closing date for receipt of applications.
10. Candidates selected for appointment have the liability to serve anywhere in India or abroad including the units of NIC. No request for transfer will be entertained under any circumstances, initially for a period of five years, except in public interest.
11. All Degrees/Diplomas should be from a recognised University/Institution. Degree and Diploma will be equated as per norms of National Informatics Centre and the NIC's decision in this regard will be final. Candidates will have to produce the original documents in proof of the details furnished in their application when called for interview, for verification.
12. The attested copies of certificates in support of date of birth, educational qualification, experience etc. should be furnished along with the original certificates for verification at the time of personal interview.
13. Candidates selected for appointment shall be required to work on any of the three shifts as may be decided by NIC from time to time.

WARNING
