Manipur is a corrupt state
Serene Laimayum *
It is no secret to anyone who exist in Manipur and those who come out from the state in hope of better opportunities, and privileges, that Manipur is a corrupt state. However people do not talk of it openly maybe because everyone is responsible for it in one way or other.
Manipur is at the verge of ruin as hope for any economic progress, technological development, academic excellence, peace and harmony, self sufficiency is meager or negligible.
People do not give a thought to it and are occupied by their own life, honestly speaking they have all become selfish they cannot care enough for matters other than themselves and their family. They will let it happen what is happening until it affects them. On the issue of corruption it is a known fact until one bribes the government official in charge he or she cannot get his or her work done.
People who have money and connections can dream of a job in the state otherwise one can start checking out options and start learning vocations.
Manipur has incredible amount of qualified and educated youth population and are absolutely eligible for post in various government offices however a very few of them get what they deserve and the rest suffer the blow of educated unemployed and it leads to brain drain.
Why don't we give opportunity to deserving people. Parents who cannot afford to bribe for their children expect their children to seek job somewhere else in the country and settle down there as the atmosphere in Manipur is chaotic and full of tension and every now and then it will be in the news for all the bad reasons.
There is marginal scope for a peaceful and pleasant day to day life. In the academic front we all know the condition of the government run schools as we know how the teachers are selected and there is total neglect from the side of the state authorities.
Private schools are no better as every next day there will be a bandh or a crisis or dharna,or strike leading to no schools and no learning leading to the inability of the students to compete with students a ll over the country, poor quality education leading to poor quality students who are way talented but are handicapped by their lack of knowledge .
The problem of education in the state is many fold and multi layered not just schools, colleges, and university are all in poor shape all thanks to what is happening in Manipur.
No power supply even in the 21st century but what can one do as there is no project or plan for the development of such crucial matters there is no development of even the basic amenities people know why but they like things the way they are they don't have any problem with it, in a way people of Manipur are very cooperative and contained they never complain for anything if they would have been a little more unsatisfied with what they have they would have been living in better conditions.
They live in fear, they are terrified both by the motherland lovers the underground outfits who are busy demanding money, kidnapping, murdering, and creating tensions and the Indian armed force who are waiting for an opportunity to shower atrocities on the people in the name of protecting them from the underground outfits.
However, the people don't speak up they think it is better to be crushed between the two. The reason behind is very complicated and I leave it to the readers to come up with whatever reasons they like as the problem is multifaceted.
Matters mentioned above are very few among the viruses which is affecting the proper functioning of the state called Manipur and its people. It is high time people start thinking about it and take a stand before the viruses fail the system of the state entirely.
However, what can one lone person do about it honestly speaking even I have never done and cannot do anything about it alone even though when I think of all these issues my heart burns and aches.
Unity is strength so I leave it to the people to decide if they want to be unified to be anti-viruses or let the viruses eat up all they have got.
