Dear All at e-pao.
You kept me alive as a Meetei during the June uprising. Before e-pao my heart
was in Manipur but now you have made Manipur my heart. Some of us concerned
Kanglies residing outside are truly dependant on your web. This is the
best web I had ever used and please do keep it up. It makes research much
easier and I can always refer any one interested in Manipur to your web.
Your news section is excellent and I feel that at last some organizations
are leading the people in the right direction which gives us all some hope
and makes us happy. Yet at the same time the increasing use of Non English,
non Meetei terms even in the formation of Village Panchayet etc, etc, etc, makes me very concerned if it is not Atombapu / Nilakanta / Khelechandra
/(Garibniwaz) approach in a different form which could replace Kanglei
culture and tradition. Along with this, the poor English amongst the younger
generation, inability for those who had schooled in the so called English
medium schools and the absence of the knowledge of English in the case of
many parents who sent their children to such schools, is building a gap
between parents and their children when the children continue their
education outside Manipur. They cannot write any letters home, nor can they
read any sent by their parents. They cannot write in the Bengali script
which the parents know, nor in English as all the parents do not know
English. Added to that Hindi is forced on those who work even in the post
office as the so called Post master could not speak English nor did he take
the trouble of learning Meeteilon which even the British officers had not
only to learn but pass a test before their post was confirmed. While no one
supports British emperialism, their priciple in this was correct. Meetei
mayek should be revived and take the example from Israel with Hebrew and
force all to learn it. It is only the script we need to learn as we all
speak the language. Also if you want to build up a future for our
children, English should be emphasized as it is not Hindi but
English which is the International language. Hindi ends at Delhi airport.
And if Hindi is the centre of any Kangleis hope for the future, we need to
open our eyes. How can E-pao help those in Manipur and the readers anywhere
in these matters?
1999, there were just a few computers in the Manipur University. 2000-2001,
I was able to use e email daily. 2001-2002 you have excelled in your
skill. Given the opportunity, you had excelled, which makes any Meetei proud
of you. Let us give the opportunity to the younger generation that we may
still have hope as a people. Some African countries smaller in size then
Kangleipak, stands on their feet and have a higher standard. We have rich
soil and abundance of water to start with, but management is bad and people
have been programmed to a culture of dependence , center-na paisa pidraboidi
eikhoi siragani.
Can e-pao along with the local newspapers help to get the people unprogrammed. If the leipak macha khudingmak get excess to the International
news they might wake up before they become Esua who sold his birth right for
a bowl of porridge.
Thank you all again. Thank you for the calendar. May God bless you all.
