E-Pao! Essay - Know Your Responsibilities

Know Your Responsibilities

By: Konjengbam Candle *

I do really appreciate the parents of our Manipuri society. They are ready to do anything for the good of their children. There are countless fields where parents have done good for their children. From the countless fields I would like to mention only the education part.

In the field of education, if their children ask anything they are ready to give anything at any time and at any cost by Hook or Crook. This is a matter of great concern especially for parents whose children studies outside Manipur. More so because parents don't really understand that their children are taking advantage in the name of education. Parents must be aware of this fact.

Parents, all know how much parents love their children. They are so much blinded by this love that they tend to overlook their children's faults, follies and believe them to be innocent angels. They will never unveil the bad things about their children. They don't want to accept that their children are bad.

But in the modern world parents should understand that there are some things which needs to be taken out of the closet and discuss with relatives, friends and which cannot be discussed. Parents need to know the difference between this two. Otherwise, parents will have to suffer silently and bear the brunt of their silence.

Some children are taking advantage in the name of education from their parents- The parents with their dream of making their children "well-educated" do anything for their children's education; Even though if they don't have the money.

They will send the money to their dear children by Hook or Crook. But their children will not know and not even try to think deeply, from where the money has been send.

When children asked their parents to send some money, parents will send the money as soon as possible. They will not ask where the money will be used. Even if they ask, their children will say something and they will believe. Parents need to check with their children every now and then.

When your children are going for holiday to their very native, You know what, what things all they do? Parents will not believe what I am going to say. But it is true. One instance that can give is the use of the tablet which are made to be used by the pregnant women. I don't know the real name of the tablet but people called it as SP and its colour is Blue.

The day your children are supposed to go back to their very native "Manipur", the day itself they will buy. How many box could you just imagine? There is a lot of influence of the student studying outside to those studying in their native place and they are almost the one responsible for bringing this eating habit of this tablet inside Manipur.

The money which their parents have sent to buy computer will be spent in some unnecessary things. Where and how they spent it, I'll not tell? When their parents come to visit them, their children will borrow one from his/her friend.

And they will say, "This is my computer". Not only this, they extract more and more money in the name of study tours, projects very frequently. Thus, the parents remain unaware of anything.

I am not saying this only for boys. There is no difference between boys and girls in freaking out. Girls are freaking out as if, "When we hit in the water by knife there is no scar mark".

As we all know and see the nature of the girl inside Manipur. What ever they do they are doing in the present of tight security of their parents and vice versa. If they can do whatever they feel like in the presence of tight security of their parents, Just imagine what and all they will do in the absence of their innocent gullible parents.

What I am saying is nothing. I'm just providing a peek into the tip of the iceberg. I don't have any right to interfere in somebody's life. And I don't have any interest too.

If you are not the future of our lagging behind Manipur, I will not say anything, But what to do? You are the future, the building blocks and the foundations of a good Manipuri Nation.

I am saying all these because our Manipur needs a very strong future. Every country and every society needs to have a future. Likewise, our Manipur also needs a very strong future. What kind of future? The future that can withstand any hurdles that comes from different directions at any time, any place and in any circumstances.

Instead of taking advantage from your parents in the name of education, try to understand the problems of your parents. And if the parents want their children to come back home with neat and clean without any bad mark in their lives, parents need to check why he/she need the money? Where the money has been used? For what purpose money is being used? and vice versa. The rests is up to the parents.

If parents have seen the Shumang Leela written by Manaobi M.M., "21st Century Kunti, Part I" You will understand a little bit. That is the small percentage of what is all happening outside Manipur. What we saw in that drama is like, "When we take a handful of water from the ocean and that is also only the one drop of water leaking from the hand". There are uncountable numbers of characters or, roles of the students studying outside.

But in that Drama parents can observe some character of the students. Think, what kind of character parents desires their children to possess in life? It is up to you, "PARENTS". It is the duty of the parents to look after their children. Restrain them from doing bad things and give direction towards good things. If we want our Manipur to have a very strong and a healthy future, it is up to the hands of the parents.

We should always remember that, parents do much for their children. They bring them up, nourish them, they introduce them to the world. Nothing in the world would ever be enough for us to repay the debt we owe them. Even if you were to give them absolute rule over the whole world, this would not repay them. And there is a saying, "Even if we were born seven times also we'll not be able to repay".

Nevertheless, there is one way to repay our debt, says one of the books in Buddhism - "Whoever encourages his ignorant parents to realise the truth, his immoral parents to be virtuous, his stingy parents to be generous, his foolish parents to be wise, such a one by so doing, does repay, does more than repay his parents".

According to our observation, the students of Manipur and the students of the other Indian society, When we compare our students to that of other Indian students, the sons of Manipur are far more talented then they are. Don't you believe this? If you don't believe this then, you compare yourself with the students in your class or in your college.

There are so many talented students in Manipur. But the only thing is that they are not getting much opportunities or the right exposure or the appropriate platform to show case their talents and they also don't know in which way they should go. So, we the students of Manipur need a good guide so that we can go in the right direction.

So, those elder people, who have already known the direction, should show to their youngsters - the right direction. And the youngsters should also go to their elders and ask for their guidance. There shouldn't be any hesitation on either side in this whole process.

"Love is not a loaf of bread which if you give a piece to someone you have less left to give to others". Now the time has come to unite each and every person of Manipur in order to bring some changes in Manipur.

It is the duty of the sons of Ema Manipur to bring some changes. We shouldn't be made apart by geographical barriers Hills and Valleys, after all we all are human beings and How long we are going to live?

"The role model of a person's relationship with the society helps one to organize one's life to maintain the best relationship with society".
