The Masters Tournament was played from April 10 to 13, 2014 at Augusta National Golf Club, a private golf club in the city of Augusta, Georgia USA. It is one of the four major tournaments. Unlike other major tournaments, Masters Tournament played in April and same location i.e. Augusta national Golf Club is one of the most beautiful golf courses in the world.

The 18 holes are named after the beautiful flowers bloomed during April, They are

The Masters was started by Clifford Roberts and Bobby Jones. Jones designed Augusta national with course architect Alister Mackenzie. The Tournament is an official money event on the PGA Tour, The European tour and the Japan Golf tour. Green Jacket is one of the traditional award to the winner. Since 1934, there were many changes in the designs and traditions 1934 winner Horton Smith received $1500 as cash prize. Approximately Rs 31, 4010. Taking average winning stroke of 28 in round of 4, The Cost of one stroke was Rs. 1121 in Indian currency.

The Augusta National Course first opened 81 yrs ago in 1933, and has been modified many times by different architects. Among the changes: green have been reshaped and on occasion, entirely re-designed, bunkers have been added, water hazards have been extended, new tea have been built, hundreds of tress have been planted and several moulds have been installed. Hole No. 12 of Augusta national Golf Club is one of the toughest golf holes in world.

Jack Nicklaus became the first player to win in consecutive years and he donned the jacket himself. Gary player holds the record for most appearances, with 52. Nick price and Greg Normal share the course record of 63, with their rounds coming in 1986 and 1996 respectively. This score is also a record for all men’s major championships. Anthony Kim holds the record for most birdies in a round with 11 in 2009 during his second round. Tiger wood the youngest winner in 1997 at the age of 21 yrs 3 months 14 days with lowest score 270.

The first Tournament played in 1934 and Harton Smith won the Tournament with cash prize of $ 1500 out of total purse of $ 5000. In 1963, winner Jack Nicklau’s received $ 20,000 and in 1986 Nicklaus won the Masters Tournament with cash prize of $ 144000. This year Buba Watson USA won prestigious Masters Tournament with (-8) score in final round with total stroke of 280. This is 2nd win of Masters by Watson.

For the second time he was honoured with GREEN JACKET which most prestigious in additional to individual cash prize of $1,62,000 out of total purse of $ 9,000,000. In additional to Green Jacket as winner of tournament a gold medal was awarded. His name engraved on the actual Silver Masters trophy (introduced in 1961) which depicts the club house. The Trophy remains at Augusta national Silver replica was given to the winner (introduced in 1993).

Beginning in 1978, a Silver Salver was added as a award for the runner-up. The tournament was not played from 1943 to 1945, due to World War II. To assist the war effort, cattle and turkeys were raised on the Augusta national grounds. In 1952 the Masters began presenting as award, known as the Silver Cup, to the lowest scoring amateur to make the cut 1954 they began presenting an amateur Silver medal to the low amateur runner-up.

Winning records of Jack William Nicklaus in 1963, 1965, 1966, 1972, 1975, 1986 (six times) and Tiger Woods in 1997, 2001, 2002, 2005 (five times) and Arnold Palmer (1958, 1960, 1962, 1964 four times, are the best records of Augusta Masters.

GUAN TIANLANG become the youngest player ever to compete in Masters at the age of 14 yrs. Bruce devlin made double eagle (ALBATROSS) from 248 yds out with a 4 wood at the 8th hole (YELLOW JASMINE) in the first round of the 1967 tournament. The Highest winning score of 289 (+1) has occurred 3 times. Sam Snead in 1954 Jack burke in 1956, Zac Johnson in 2007. Jack William Nicklaus (Jack Nicklaus) hold the oldest winner at the age of 46 yrs 2 months 23 days in 1986. He also hold the most Runner up finishes records ( 1964, 1971, 1977 and 1984) Most birdies in one tournament with 254 in 2001 by Phil Mickelson.

In 1963, Jack Nicklaus received $ 20,000 (INR 12,05,800) and the cost one stroke was Rs. 4186 in round of 4 in 1986 again Jack Nicklaus received $ 144000 as winner cash prize (appox. INR 86,81760). Taking the average winning stroke of 280 the cost of one stroke was Rs. 31006 on 2014 moasters winner Buba Watson received $ 1.620000 out of total purse of $ 9,000,00. His total stroke was 280 times only scoring (-8) to win 2014 masters. The cost one DRIVE, CHIP, PUT is rupees three lakhs and fourty seven thousand. The cost of one stroke for the winner is 1934was Rs. 1121 Rs. 47,142 in 2014.

Now the changes of prize money of masters since 1934 to 2014 can be seen with the cost of one stroke assuming winner’s stroke as 280.

The Single stroke of winner masters 2014 Buba Watson (long drive, short drive, putting) cost Rs. 347142. The Winner of Fed Ex cup 2013. Henrik stenson received total prize money of Rs. 60 crores and his single stroke cost Rs. 21,42, 857-00. The cost of hitting one ball by Horton Smith in 1934 in Augusta Master was Rs. 1121, where as the cost of one strock of Buba Watson in Augusta Master 2014 is Rs. 347142. The cost of one strock in last 80 years, changes (increase) from Rs. 1000 (appox.) to Rs. 35 lakhs, which is shown by the record of Augusta Master.

So for FedEx Cup (golf) is one of the highest prize money for an individual winner in professional games. Tiger Woods in still the most earned athlete in the world above Roger Federer.

One of the most interesting thing to know is, the cost of one stroke in 2013 FedEx Cup winner Henrik Stension was Rs. 21 lakhs he hitting 280 strokes only in 4 days to and reach by Rs. 60 crores.
