Club 27 - where legends RIP

Music lovers a cross the globe is mourning the death of Amy Winehouse, this brought us the attention of other Rockers who die at this very age rather we say die young.

Amy Winehouse's death is so new that hers hasn't even yet been added to the Wikipedia entry for the 27 Club. The 27 Club, also occasionally known as the Forever 27 Club or Club 27, is a name for a group of influential rock music artists who died at the age of 27.

Winehouse's death is as yet unexplained but she had struggled with drug and alcohol addiction. Last month, the audience booed her in Serbia after she was too drunk to continue her concert. A video of the incident made the rounds on YouTube.

Perhaps there is something subconscious and karmic about dying at the age of your idols: Chris Farley and John Belushi both died at age 33. I certainly hope it's not intentional.

Then the number 27, the age everyone was reporting she was, jumped out at me. I knew that both Kurt Cobain and Jim Morrison had died at 27. I thought there were some others. I did a quick search and found the Wikipedia entry for "27 Club." I thought, "Surely someone has written this already?" I did a search on Twitter for Amy and "27 Club".

Nothing. #27Club wouldn't trend for another few hours. I did several Google news and blog searches. Nothing conclusive but some data's of famous people who die at 27 is doing round in the web.

As i search in the web- I came across of certain Quotes. Cobain's mother even reportedly once said to her son, "Don't join that stupid club," before he committed suicide at age 27. According to Cobain's biography, Heavier Than Heaven, Cobain's sister said that, as a child, Cobain talked about wanting to join the club.

An independently published book distributed by Random House titled, The 27s: The Greatest Myth of Rock & Roll detailed the phenomenon. According to the book, "More rock stars have died at 27 than at any other age. This may be a phenomenon that rockers/musician want to follow to make themselves immortal at 27.

Whether it's the number that's jinxed or the lifestyle, turning 27-years-old just doesn't seem too promising for rock legends. As it is said 'to die will be an awfully big adventure', it is for certain that wherever the members of Club 27 are right now they are surely creating quite the jam session!

This reminds me of the famous track by Bryan Adams "18 till i die" but for the rock stars "It's 27, I die " till then we have to see who is next in the line to join the 27 Club.
