Recycle on stage

"Are You Experienced?" - these very words remind us of how Jimi Hendrix blasted the late 60's. A rock concert by the same name, highly equipped with powerful gadgets and talents was held at GM Hall on 17th September, 2007.

It was a show featuring "RECYCLE" with "SPOON N' FORK", an event managed by "CHUMTHANG EVENTS" in association with IMPROCK. The turn out was quite impressive, though no advertisement was given in the media. It was more of tickets sold through friends' and friends.

The show started around 7.15 pm. SPOON N' FORK was the curtain raiser of the show. When the crowd had settled down fairly well, SPOON N' FORK began their performance with a clean and beautifully crafted Guitar plug.

It was when the crowd, suddenly, gave a round of applause that concert came into being, full of life. It was like Mick Jagger - the performer, coming on the stage. Reuben (on guitar) had delivered some of the most beautiful and powerful guitar lines... then the magic of guitar started. It was some 8 to 9 cover version that the band belted out tremendously.

Among them, a song from "System of a Down" viz. Banana was an incredible deliverance from the vocal as well as from the band itself. SPOON N' FORK, after about 45 minutes on stage, wound up their show, on a satisfactory note. The crowd was impressed. Indeed, the band really rocked the night but it had left in the minds of the spectators with a thirst, for their numbers were very less.

Done with SPOON N' FORK, and having refreshed their minds, the crowd took the stage RECYCLE in their arms. There went "We Want RECYCLE .!!" from the audience. Biswajit, front-man of the band came forth with full blast and started interacting with the crowd with an astounding deliverance of Queen's 'We. Will. Rock. You...' GM Hall, by then was filled with screams of ecstasy and crowd going into frenzy.

Amidst all this, Kiran (on Guitar) started belting out "Wah Wah" sound and the proceedings wrapped up with the other instruments that made an introductory note. With Bungo's thundering roll brought Audioslave's "Your Time Has Come" as the opening song.

With a non-stop, Unos. dos. tres. catorce. (1, 2, 3, 4 in Spanish) broke out from Biswajit that took over to U2's Vertigo. He greeted the gatherings with a warm welcome. Mention may be made that he was performing that night at GM Hall after a decade. It was in August 1997, Biswajit and the RECYCLE axeman, Bode played at GM Hall, when they were with ILLEGALS and PHOENIX respectively.

The 3rd song was from the Grammy winner U2's classic album "Joshua Tree", called "I Still Haven't Found What I Am Looking For". Wow! The crowd went crazy and was so overwhelmed by the song. Coldplay's Yellow being the 5th one turned to be the most awaited song of the night.

Biswajit delivered this song with all his heart that captured all the listeners. Michael (on bass) with his long artistic fingers that captivated a rally like funky bassline came up with a song that happened to be RHCP's "Torture Me". It was yet another heart throbbing experience with accompaniment by Bungo and his powerful drum rolls.

This very song is rendered with a systemic rally of bassline and drum. Indeed, Michael and Bungo did the right thing that projected their inborn talent.

Recycle with Panthouba

Panthouba then, took the stage with an energetic attitude while Biswajit took a small break after 7 songs. He contributed 3 cover versions - The Strokes's The End Has No End, Pearl Jam's Soldier of Love and Snow Patrol's Hands Open.

Bode, on guitar also played his melodies along with a little bit of speedy guitar type like "Jason Becker". Kiran's wonderful cranky tone on his guitar work gave a candid picture of his inborn artistic talent.

It was after quite a while that Biswajit came back with his vocals. RECYCLE gave a magical performance for nearly an hour with a rendition of all 13 songs

"ARE YOU EXPERIENCED" was concluded with a fantastic performance by Readymade of RHCP.

A BIG Big thumbs up to RECYCLE, the event organizers, supporters and friends/well wishers for keeping the flame of ROCK alive.

NOTE:

The crowd had a pleasurable evening witnessing RECYCLE's concert - a wonderful memorable evening with a ticket price of just Rs 30. Wow…

Due to some technical snag (of sound and light) the show started a little behind the schedule. RECYCLE also had a tough time, for they could not hear the vocals and the guitars on the monitors properly. Inspite of all odds, they gave a wonderful performance and made it a mega event.
