Indian, Chinese universities seek human future in Asian values

A Northeast India university is collaborating with a Chinese counterpart to organize a three-day international conference on Asian values and human future.

Some 80 scholars and delegates from 11 countries are expected at the July 7-9 conference that Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) is organizing in collaboration with Institute for Advanced Humanistic Studies Hubei University, China.

“This conference is an attempt to take a long, hard look at present day realities in the light of Asian values that have stood the test of time, possibly offering a fresh vision for the future of humanity,” ADBU Vice Chancellor Dr Stephen Mavely explained the reason for holding the conference to be held in their at Azara Campus.

Delegates representing 20 universities and 8 institutions are coming from Bangladesh, China, India, Israel, Lebanon, Macau, Malaysia, Mexico, Philippines, South Korea and Thailand.

Eminent scholars presenting papers include Ananta Kumar Giri, Madras Institute of Development Studies; Ahmad Fauzi Abdul Hamid, Universiti Sains, Malaysia; and Ala Uddin, University of Chittagong, Bangladesh. Others are Liu Jingjing, Macau Ricci Institute, Macau; Panduranga Narasimharao, Indira Gandhi National Open University, Chennai, and Rowena Robinson, Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai.

Warayuth Sriwarakuel, Assumption University, Thailand; A. C. Sinha Prof. Emeritus, North East Hill University; Ma del Carmen Ramos G. de C. Universidad Panamericana, Mexico; and Han Gang-Hyen, International Academy of Neohuman Culture (IANC), S. Korea.

Other presenters are Hortensia Cuéllar Pérez TEC de Monterrey-Campus, México; Lijie Zeng Hubei University, China; V. Suryanarayan Prof. Emeritus, University of Madras; L. Anthony Savari Raj Manipal University Jaipur, Rajasthan. Edward J. Alam, Notre Dame University, Lebanon; Liu Kefeng, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Wuhan, China; Ge Chen-hong Renmin University, Beijing, China; Lydia Bat Sheba Amir, College of Management Academic Studies Tel-Aviv, Israel; Corazon T. Toralba, Mandaluyong City, Philippines and many others will be presenting their papers.

The opening program is scheduled to be held at Assam Don Bosco University, at 6 pm on Tuesday July 7.

Dignitaries expected at the inaugural function include Assam Chief Minister Shri Tarun Gogoi; Chief Justice (Acting) Guwahati High Court Shri K. Sreedhar Rao, Minister of Culture of Assam Bismita Gogoi, and other eminent citizens.

Highlight of the inaugural session will be a one hour cultural program by the Assam government’s Ministry of Culture as well as an exhibition portraying northeast by the Assam State Museum.
