1. Helmholtz-DAAD Fellowships

This special programme jointly run by the Helmholtz Association and the DAAD is intended for highly-qualified doctoral and postdoctoral scholars. Helmholtz-DAAD Fellowships offer young scientists and researchers from all around the world the opportunity to do research at a Helmholtz Centre in Germany. The current offer is in the areas of :

Earth and Environment
Energy
Health
Key Technologies
Structure of Matter
Transport and Space

Last date for submission of applications at the DAAD New Delhi Office: 1st December 2006.
Direct applications to the Head Offices of the DAAD or the Helmholtz Association in Bonn, or to the Helmholtz Centres will not be accepted.

2. Leibniz-DAAD Scholarships

Leibniz – DAAD – Scholarships for Doctoral and Postdoctoral scholars provide young academics and scientists with an opportunity to complete a research project or a programme of continuing education and training at a Leibniz Institute. The scholarships are financed by the participating Leib-niz Institutes and awarded according to the regular DAAD-scholarship conditions. The focus areas for the fellowships are as follows:

Biomedical Research
Geophysics
Geochronology
Low-temperature Plasma Physics
Bioinformatics
Printable electronic materials
Material Science/ Surface Science/ Chemistry

Scholarships & Duration

Type A : Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Germany (max. 36 months)
Type B : Research projects with the aim of gaining a Doctorate in the home country (12 to 24 months)
Type C : Research projects for Postdocs (12 to 24 months).

The scholarships will be initially awarded for a period of up to 12 months. Extensions depend on whether or not the host institute confirms that the previous research / study period has been successfully completed.

Application deadline: 1st December 2006 at DAAD New Delhi Office.
They cannot be submitted to DAAD Bonn Office directly.

4. DST-DAAD Project based Personnel Exchange Programme (PPP) - 2007

With a view to intensifying interaction and the scientific cooperation between Indian and German Scientists / Institutions, Department of Science & Technology (DST) of India and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) of Germany jointly extend support for exchange of visits under this Project based Personnel Exchange Programme (PPP), with a special emphasis on further academic training and specialisation of young scholars.

Faculty, Scientists and Academicians belonging to Universities, Deemed Universities and Research Institutes having permanent positions can apply as Principal Investigator (PI) and should include upto two PhD students or Post Doctoral scientists who have cleared NET/GATE, as applicable.
