Our roads: Prod Govt conscience
It is often said that conditions of roads reflect the status of a region's development. Sadly, the roads across Manipur today are in an appalling and unimaginable state of disrepair. From national and state highways to inter-village roads, no stretch is an exception, all dotted with potholes, erosion and neglect.
These deteriorating roads not only disrupt daily life but also pose serious health and safety risks to the public. While it is the responsibility of both the state and central governments to construct and maintain roads, the lack of timely action has pushed citizens to the brink. In many areas, local clubs and concerned stakeholders have taken it upon themselves to mend the potholes, simply to prevent accidents.
In light of this grim situation, The People's Chronicle and its sister publication Poknapham are launching a public awareness campaign themed "Our roads, let's prod conscience of administration".
The campaign aims to bring the worsening condition of roads to the attention of the government by amplifying public voices and visual evidence through the power of the press. We invite the public to join the campaign by send ing photographs of the worst-affected roads via WhatsApp to 8731936523. The submitted images will be carefully reviewed by the editorial teams of both newspapers and published along with relevant details and captions.
Guidelines for Submission:
1. Photos must be in high-definition (HD) format.
2. Images should be clear and well-composed.
3. Name of the road, assembly constituency and district should be mentioned.
4. A brief description of the location or issue may be included.
5. Senders must provide their name, address, and a copy of a valid identity card. All personal details will be kept strictly confidential.
Let us come together and raise our voices for safer, better roads because every journey begins with a road that deserves care.
