Irregular Power Supply Why It Happens |

We were told earlier that the neighboring states in NE region are willing to sell electricity to the state of Manipur. Now what we hear is diametric. The state having failed to clear the accumulated debt may not be getting electricity from the neighboring states in the near future. Why it happens. The Govt of Manipur perhaps to inculcate the habit of clearing electricity bill introduced a new method, which is effective. Now employees have started clearing electricity bill regularly for irregular clearance of electricity and tap water bill will mean pay being held up. This method should be applied to the Govt departments also. It is said that many of the Govt departments are not clearing electricity bill for several years. The heads of the Govt Departments failing to clear electricity bill regularly should be questioned as to why their departments do not clear the bill regularly. Their inability to clear the bill should weigh against their continuation in the department. They could be asked to make room for the ambitious man to step in. Last year during the run up to the state assembly election a big personality while speaking at a place little farther away from the capital city directly appealed to the rural people not pay electricity bill. He said electricity is used more at the urban areas by the big industries. His election speech gave a wrong message. It attempted to divide between the rural and the urban people. And if he tries in the Lok Sabha election, which is knocking at the door, will he get support from the urban people. Such leaders are responsible for dismal power supply in the state If he was little wiser he could have spoken in a manner acceptable to both rural and urban people. Such men should be identified and they should be shunted out of electoral politics. Because their prolonged stay in politics will be detrimental to the development of the state. Manipur must move forward, which can be achieved only when our leaders show their understanding of the responsibility to the society. All good things should start from the higher level like Ganga flowing down from Gangotri. Irregular power supply is a menace, which should be ended and to end this menace it is time the state Govt finds a way out. Will timely and regular clearance of electricity bill ensure better power supply? The Govt should make a clear-cut statement on the matter because the present load shedding programme is unbearable. It is a shame that at this age of scientific advancement our state should continue to reel under darkness. Do something.
