(to national media) NO MEAN FEAT
Dear Editors,
It is appalling to know that most of the newspapers in the country extended lukewarm coverage to Mary Kom's achievements. This is a moment of pride for India. Yet, our newspaper showed very little interest in highlighting her world record feat.
A befitting response perhaps would have been a ½ page story, a profile on her, a timeline / milestones of her achievements. It’s not everyday that we see achievements of this highest level.
Why such indifference to the achievements of our own people?
We failed to fathom the reasoning behind such disinterest.
We are hopeful that you will do the needful and give her print space she deserves for all the joy she has brought to the country.

(to state media) NO MEAN FEAT
Dear Editors,
It is appalling to know that most of the newspapers in Imphal extended lukewarm (read NONE') coverage to Mary Kom's achievements. This is a moment of pride for Manipur & India. Yet, our own local newspaper showed very little interest in highlight her world record feat.
A befitting response perhaps would have been a ½ page story, a profile on her, a timeline / milestones of her achievements. It’s not everyday that we see achievements of this highest level.
With such indifference to the achievements of our own people, we can't even point fingers to mainstream Indian media about the same.
We failed to fathom the reasoning behind such disinterest.
It is learned that she took up boxing after being inspired by Dingko's success at the Asian Games. Dingko already has a road named after him, whereas Mary was hardly news in the local media out. If Dingko's sole success at the Asian Games can inspire Mary to such achievements, just imagine what Mary's success can do. The onus is on the local media to make sure that Mary becomes the inspirations of many Manipuris.
In the gloom & doom situation that our state is facing daily, such news are suppose to bring the much needed relief.
We are hopeful that you will do the needful and give her print space she deserves for all the joy she has brought to the state of Manipur.
