On 1st September at around 6pm a partially blind man named Solomon was distributing the relief materials with a Team from Delhi to the Flash Floods victims mostly poor Nepalese in Leh who have lost everything due to Flash Floods. When everybody has left the place with their materials about 8 people from Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA) caught him , beat him up with their shoe boots, and dragged him to their vehicle and than took him to a place. They started beating him up on the Road and was dragged down and kept in a Room of a monastery. He was constantly beaten up by the rude LBA people, he could not contact anyone as his phone was taken away as well. The kidnappers dumped him back to his house at around 1am. His eyes bled and his whole body was filled with severe bruises. He over heard that LBA wanted to kill him as they talked in Ladhaki dialect he couldn’t even breathe freely and have pain and wounds all over his body. His friends helped him to get to the Doctor and to the Police station to report the incident. The School where he worked gave him an ultimatum to leave within 24 hrs without any money and gratuity.
Solomon who is partially blind with only onr eye and his wife Junita who is also totally blind teach the Blind Budhist Students at Budhist School in Leh. They were taken by this Mahabudhi school to teach in their school.
The Buddhist believed that they should not harm even an insect but they are beating up the handicapped worker who had gone to help their community people.
LBA has threatened them that they will be killed if they don’t leave Leh. The only reason known for this torture was simply because he is a Christian.
such activities. NPMHR also call upon all concerned to ensure the safety and well being of villagers.
