North East Centre for Environmental Education & Research (NECEER), Imphal celebrated World Environment Day by partnering with Delhi Greens and other organisations in the Delhi Greens' DELHI YOUTH SUMMIT ON CLIMATE 2010 on 5th & 6th June 2010. Khuraijam Jibankumar Singh, green ambassador of the summit delivered talk on SUCCESS STORY of his endeavors towards the scientific research, conservation of bioresources and involvement of youth.
He highlighted the problems that he faced while doing his research works in Manipur and other states of NE India. He highlighted the neglegience of the region by central government and need of changing the mindset of the people towards the Indian citizen of North East India.
He also elaborated on the risk in working in Manipur due to present law and order of the state which really hamper the research works. Determination and love for the region was the main drive behind his venture for conservation of endangered species and fragile ecosystem of the state. He call upon the youth to come forward and take their responsibility to save the rich biodiversity of the state.
NECEER, Imphal is also going to start ENVIRO LECTURE SERIES in association with Delhi Greens to create awareness on different environmental issues of North East India and particularly of North East India.
Khuraijam Jibankumar Singh is an associate of Linnean society of London and managing trustee of NECEER, Imphal. He is the person behind the Nationwide Save Sangai Campaign 2008 and ongoing Worldwide Save Loktak Lake Campaign 2010-2011. He is also Editor-in Chief of NeBIO - first international peer reveiwed research journal dedicated to the environment and biodiversity of North East India.
