NESO to organize an agitation programme at Guwahati

A meeting between All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) and All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) in the presence of North East Students’ Union (NESO) official was held in Guwahati on 10th February, 2014 with Mr. Samuel B Jyrwa, Chairman of NESO on the Chair.

All together 23 officials attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the house discussed about the incidents which took place at New Delhi recently leading to the death of one Arunachele Student, Shri Nido Tania, physical assault of two girls from Manipur and the rape of one minor girl from Manipur, as well the prevailing border tension in between Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.

With regards to the death of one Arunachele Student, Shri Nido Tania, physical assault of two girls from Manipur and the rape of one minor girl from Manipur, NESO strongly condemn the incidents. The NESO has taken a serious note of the Delhi Government and central Government for the failure to protect the people of north east residing in the national capital. The Govt. should give ensure a sense of security to the dwellers of North Eastern people. The govt. should enact anti racial law to protect the people of North East. The Culprits must be booked immediately. Police personnel must be more proactive.

With regards to the border tension in between Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, NESO also strongly condemn the incident of killing 11 assamese people and missing of 3 assamese people at Tarasso. Both the Government of Assam and Arunachal are responsible for the prevailing tension related to Tarasso incident as they could not protect the people. This border issue has been there since long time and NESO has requested to the State Government as well as Central government to solve the issue. If the issue had been solved in time by the govt., such incident could not have taken place.

NESO demands the followings :
i) Both the State government as well as the Central government should immediately find out the missing three assamese people.
ii) Both the State government as well as the Central government should make out concrete mechanism to protect the life and properties to the people residing at the border areas.
iii) The Culprits should be booked immediately.
iv) CBI intervention must be done immediately.

In connection with the above mention issues the house adopted the following resolutions :

Resolution No. 1:
The House resolved that NESO will organize an agitation programme at Guwahati on 14th February, 2014 in front of Raj Bhawan from 11 am to 2 p.m.. And on the same day the member units of NESO namely All Assam Students Union (AASU), All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU), All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU), Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), Garo Students’ Union (GSU), Nagaland Students’ Federation (NSF), Mizo zirlai Paul (MZP), Twipra Students federation (TSF) will submit memorandum to the Hon’ble President of India and Hon’ble Prime Minister of India through their respective State Governors.

Resolution No.2 :
The House also resolved that a NESO team will visit Delhi just after the agitation program to be held on 14th February, 2014.
