Chief Minister O Ibobi today informed the House that from March till June 30 this year a total number of 99 persons were murdered.
The Congress led Government under O Ibobi took over the reins of administration on March 7 this year.
Answering to questions raised by Thanga AC MLA Salam Ibohal, the Chief Minister said that of the total number, people killed in the last four months 22 are civilians, 24 security personnel including policemen and 53 militants.
Replying to further questions, the Chief Minister said the UGs killed included PLA 7, UNLF 7, PREPAK 6, KCP 6, KYKL 1, KNF (MC) 3, KRA 4, KLA 3, ZRO 4, NSCN (IM) 11.Four other militants were also killed during this period, the Chief Minister said.
To another question raised by Ibohal, the Chief Minister said that till date 146 militants have surrendered to the State Government.
The break up of the militants are, PLA 18, UNLF 27, PREPAK 11, KCP 10, KYKL (T) 18, KYKL (O) 11, NSCN (IM) 2, NSCN (K) 3, KNF (P) 1, INF 13, ILF (K) 10 and NEMF 2.Of the total militants who have surrendered, 27 have been inducted into the State force.
The Government will try to induct the others who fulfill the recruitment rules, he added.
Despite the acute financial crisis, the Government is trying its best to release ex-gratia payment and medical re-imbursements on humanitarian ground.
The Chief Minister said this when Andro AC MLA S Chandro said that ex-gratia is yet to be paid to the family of a woman who was killed when IRB men opened fire towards a marriage procession on February 13, 2000 at Moirangpurel.
The woman was the mother of the bridegroom and is identified as Hijam ongbi Shama Devi.
On this particular case, the Chief Minister said that ex-gratia has not been paid so far as some documents such as the post mortem report are still awaited.
To another question raised by Keishamthong AC MLA L Ibomcha, the Chief Minister said that between January 1 and March 31, six Govt Depts were issued Cheque Drawal Authority to the tune of Rs 10072 lakhs.
The Departments are PWD (Rs 1692.65 lakh), PHED (Rs 3415.85 lakh), IFCD (Rs 2013.59 lakhs), MI (Rs 164.42 lakh).
Forest (481.48 lakh) and Power (Rs 2304.69 lakh).
The question hour was cut short as there was a Privilege Committee meeting of the Assembly at 10 am today.
