Imphal, August 21: Sports-persons from different discipline took out a rally and submitted a memorandum to Sports Minister N Biren urging him to do the needful so that they can participate in National and International championships.

Hundreds of sports-persons from different discipline gathered at Khuman Lampak sports complex today morning and later staged a silent rally to submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister.

The rallyists were however stopped by a police team by the SDPO of Traffic police and OC of City police near the Manipur Press Club and were advised to re-draft the memorandum in the correct format.

The sportspersons then congregated at DM College and drafted a fresh memorandum.

Thereafter representatives of the sportspersons were taken to the Sports Minister instead of the Chief Minister by the police officers.

The Sports Minister urged the sportspersons to wait till August 31 and assured that he would try his best to work out a solution to the Monika issue.

Following the Monika fiasco, a public resolution was adopted to boycott all National and international meets until justice is delivered for victimising Monika by the SAI and IOA.
