Imphal, July 14: Violent agitations continued to reverberate in the hill districts with reports of Government establishments and a vehicle being torched at Senapati and Chandel districts coming in today.

According to police source, suspected agitation supporters torched a jeep loaded with betel leaves at an isolated place located about four kilometres from Mao police station.

The vehicle burning incident is suspected to be linked to defying the economic blockade imposed by ANSAM to demand the revocation of June 18 being declared as State Integrity Day and holiday.

Major portions of the Mahindra jeep bearing registration No NLOA 6993 have been destroyed in the fire.

On the other hand, suspected non-cooperation movement supporters set ablaze office building of Economics and Statistics located at Senapati district at around 4 pm today.

Suspected ANSAM supporters also torched the ICDS office building located at Machi in Chandel district this afternoon.

According to an informed source, a large number of agitation supporters descended at the office complex which also serves as the office of the staff SDO/BDO and set it ablaze at around 1 pm.

Even though the office staff tried to douse the inferno the arsonists foiled the former's attempt resulting in destruction of the office building beyond redemption, the source said.
