Imphal, January 22: At
least 67 candidates filed their nomination papers for the forthcoming
8th Manipur State Assembly elections today.
12 candidates in all filed
their nominations in Imphal west district today, including two candidates
filing in Thangmeiband Assembly constituency, one in Uripok A/C, two in
Sagolband A/C, one each in Keishamthong and Singjamei, three in Konthoujam,
two in Patsoi, and a single candidate in Langthabal A/C.Among the notable
candidates who filed their papers today were Laishom Ibomcha, former state
law secretary, and former deputy chief minister Dr Chandramani in Keishamthong
and Patsoi respectively.
In Bishnupur district, two candidates filed papers
in Nambol A/C, one in Bishnupur A/C and three in Kumbi A/C.Meanwhile,
in Thoubal district, one candidate filed nomination papers for Lilong
A/C, two for Thoubal, three for Wangkhem, two for Heirok, one each for
Wangjing, Wabagai, Kakching and Sugunu ACs and three for Hiyanglam A/C.
Former chief minister RK Dorendro filed his nomination paper from Yaiskul
constituency, along with three others.
One candidate filed for Khundrakpam
and two others for Lamlai.
Five candidates filed paper in Kshetrigao constituency,
six in Thongju, and three in Wangkhei constituency.
